Reading the Bible
Did you know that God wants you to grow in Him? It’s true … one of the most exciting ways you can grow is through reading and memorizing the Bible – God’s Word. The Bible is the inspired word of God – every word written in it God has allowed and He endorses it. The Bible is God’s life instruction manual to us. It contains real answers to the real problems that you and I face today. The following are some passages of scripture to get you started off on your new life.
Day 1
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Day 2
John 1:12 “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
Day 3
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosever believeth in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
Day 4
1 John 5:4 “…for everyone born of God overcomes the world, even our faith.”
Day 5
1 John 5:11-13 “…And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13) I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
Day 6
John 6:47 “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.”
Day 7
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – 9) not by works, so that no one may boast.”
Prayer – Talking to God
You may be thinking, “What is prayer?” Prayer is simply talking to God. Just as you have friends that you talk to everyday God wants you to talk to Him. You can tell Him about anything and everything …it’s OK, He’s very interested in your life.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God and the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard your heart and minds in Christ Jesus.
Prayer is not supposed to be a religious act; it’s all about RELATIONSHIP.
Following are some helpful passages on prayer:
- 1 John 5:14,15
- Hebrews 4:16
- Mark 11:22-24
- Jeremiah 33:3
- Matthew 21:22
- Jude 20
- Psalm 27:8
- Matthew 7:7-8
Being Planted
Begin to build healthy relationships by committing to the 3 C’s of WAVE Church:
- Congregation – Sunday Morning
- Celebration – Sunday Evening
- Cell - Mid-week activity
Psalm 92:13 says, “They that are planted in the house of the Lord will flourish…” One of the most important things you can do is get connected in a local church and build healthy relationships. The first step is to get plugged into the foundations classes that are offered during Leadership Development Stream on Tuesday evening or Sunday during the Great Neck 9 AM service. There you will begin to make friends and get connected. You will also establish a strong foundation upon which to build your new life with God.
Ephesians 4:15-16
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
You are now part of God’s family. You are a gift God created for His body. You have something to add and offer as part of the local church. It is in the local church and building healthy relationships that you will discover your giftedness and God-given destiny. Don’t deny others the opportunity of knowing you. Get planted!
